About
Helen Mackay started painting in 1991 and attended the National Art School between 2002 and 2007 to do a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree as a mature student, majoring in print making. She then attended the print making studio access course at Hornsby TAFE one day a week for three years which has allowed her to do lithographs.
Helen has been exhibiting since 1992 and has had 6 solo exhibitions with Soho Galleries, and been in many mixed exhibitions both here and overseas. She has lived in Clareville for over 20 years. Her work focuses on the domestic and natural world that surrounds her, and looks at the beauty of the environment. Living in a pole house birds and flight are highly visible and endlessly fascinating. Helen's work portrays the shape and form of the birds and animals whether moving or still, as these images can seem so abstract and therefore removed from the ordinary to the intriguing
